Born in France, Vanessa Rolland – aka ThePurplePulp – began the photographer lifestyle in April 2011 when she was asked to participate in a collective exhibition at Soho art gallery in Osaka.
What was a hobby has become a passion and unknown worlds have been explored. And yet, there remains so many things to see and ideas to translate into pictures.
TPP’s past work aimed to create dimensions where women could express their deep sorrows and hatred, their fears and madness – their love too, as love is never far from hatred. This new space, once created, is the nest for a strong relationship between the photographer and the model(s). The strong desire to connect with the models is still a key in her actual work, but taken to another level.
Thanks to her immersion in the SM world as a photographer, TPP can use what she has witnessed: bonds between beings that can’t be seen in the street, deep psychological interactions, intense creativity and the enjoyment of pure aesthetic forms.
Her writing world has long been populated by strange characters, violent in their way of living and loving, and the awesome women and men Vanessa works with should now embody these characters, posing at the end of her favorite medium.
